|Land intended for wheat or barley seed production should be prepared early and in such a way that a fine and level weed free seedbed is obtained. Under conventional tillage, a disc plough followed by a disc harrow and final operation with a tine harrow would give a satisfactory seed bed for seed production. Minimum tillage has been practiced by a few farmers although no research work has so far been conducted in Zambia on the subject to justify recommendation to local farmers.
