Many other chemicals need much longer waiting periods 14, 21, 28, or 42 days in some cases. Always wash the vegetables before use. Vegetables to be consumed raw may be dipped in weak iodine or permanganate solution to kill soil parasites like roundworms. Another in the brassica group. An indigenous vegetable best known for its resistance against Black-rot. This crop is grown for its leaves which are appreciated when mixed with groundnuts. This variety is now grown throughout the year unlike in the past when farmers would cultivate it only in the rain season as a replacement for the common rapes like giant and Essex.
An annual indigenous plant cultivated for its leaves. The leaves which are green in colour are known to loaded with antioxidants which are good for human health. Both seeds and leaves are good sources of fibre, calcium as well as iron. This crop is cultivated throughout the year.
